Peter McDowell is, a high profile Australian blues artist.
Currently Peter is based in Sydney, where he is in constant demand, either as a guitarist, or as a solo act (guitar/vocal).
Most people in the Sydney scene know who Peter McDowell is. He is the man who makes the guitar sing, and many Australian artists are proud to say they have worked with him.
Peter has also worked with International artists,
including 'Mr. Joe E. King', from New Zealand.
Peter supported 'Mr King' in his show, for quite a few years, and in that time,he developed friendships with many Maori musicians.
Performing at the Bay of Islands, will bring back memories of those friendships.
Musically, Peter has covered most styles, but to complete the picture, he also performs many original songs, in his own inimitable way.
With his imaginitive, and colourful interpretation of standards, you always leave Peter's shows feeling as though you are in a much better place.
Heather Honey, is an innovative singer/guitarist from Australia.
She has performed for the past 3 years at the Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues festival, and is so pleased to be performing for the 25th anniversary of the festival.
Heather has a fascinating stage presence, and her passion is searching for the “great songs”. Finding these songs, and giving them a personal touch, is the key to her inspirational performances. (Adding a few extra jazz chords always helps)
Heather will be performing a few of her original songs as well, some written specifically for this festival.
To make Heather’s performances complete,
She is teaming up this year with Sydney artists;
Peter McDowell (Guitar/Vocals), Peter Skarootka (Bass) and local musician (from Rotorua),
Warren Houston (Drums).
Both Heather Honey and Peter McDowell have put together a CD of the songs that they will be performing this year.
The Jazz and Blues festival, is a great opportunity to forge new musical friendships, and inspire us (the musicians) to reach even greater heights !
