Shimian

Shimian is well known for creating a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere with onstage antics between Ian Anderson and Shelley Martin.

They love recreating, and restructuring songs of the present and past which they perform using acoustic guitars, drums, percussion, and vocals. They add their own special flavour to every piece of music played. Their original songs are always crowd pleasers too.

Shimian is a 3 piece band with Shelley Martin on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Ian Anderson lead guitar and vocals, and Tracey Lambert playing drums and percussion. Last year Stuart Lawrence was invited to be the guest bass guitarist on stage at the festival and also on their first CD, adding yet another dimension.

Set lists at the festival cover a mixture of blues and jazz songs, but when playing at public and private events a variety of music is played from Katie Melua to BB King to Alanis Morissette - they play what they love.

Members of Shimian are dedicated musicians who give everything they have at each and every performance. We are thrilled to be invited to play at this year’s special 25th BOI Jazz and Blues Festival – we can’t wait!
