The Edwina Thorne Band consists of:

We perform a variety of standard and original Jazz, Blues & Latin songs in a miles Miles Davis/Diana Krall style.
Our performances have included Tauranga Jazz Festival 2010, Rototua Jazz Club 2009 & 2010, Paihia Jazz Festival 2008, 2009 & 2010. Ohinimuri Jazz ‘n’ Blues Festival 2010 & a variety of Corporate, Hotel and Celebration gigs.
Edwina Thorne has travelled the world with her music, most recently being her 6th performance for the Kingdom of Tonga. But also the AWID Conference with Dr Marilyn Waring in Thailand & also in Capetown, South Africa where Edwina also featured at the “The Green Parrot’ Jazz Club for 5 days. Edwina has a degree in music from Berklee College of Music in Boston & an M.B.A from New York where she lived and worked for 5years. This year Edwina has a recording gig in Pattaya, Thailand in July, Expo 10’ in Shanghai, China in September and Tonga again in October or check out her schedule at www.edwina.net.nz
Arli Liberman is gifted young guitarist fresh from Israel. At the age of 18 he performed at the Monteux Jazz Festival in 2005 with “Whiteflag Project” a Palestinian Israeli band. He performed at the ‘Creation of Peace Festival’ in Russia to an audience of 200,000 people. In Israel he worked as a studio musician with legendary English producer, Mark Smulian. He has recorded over 75 albums for international artists in the last 5 years.
Tim Bern on tenor saxophone has come full circle from his introduction to the jazz word through the notorious TGS jazz band directed & transported around the countryside. Tim has since completed his jazz degree at Auckland University, lived abroad for five years playing sporadically in New York, California & London. He now teaches a variety and teaches a variety of instruments & tour manages for top kiwi rock acts.
Neil Williamson, a drummer of varied experiences, studied originally with Frank Gibson Junior & then with David Jones at the NSW Conservation of Music in Australia. Neil is a fluent reader & runs his own “ The Franklin Drum School “ in Pukekohe. He is also the house drummer for the ‘Creative Jazz Music Club’ the hub of Auckland Jazz in Ponsonby.
Alan Wade is a bassist of personality, flair having working with many musicians like Peter Woods, Dick Hop & was Billy T James musical director from 1980-85. |
