Blue Monkey Racket is one of the leading bands out of Taranaki. Nic “Jellylegs” Boheimer (lead vocals, guitar and harmonica), Calvin “Wizz Bang” Campbell (drums), Dom “Pinetop” Firkin (key boards) returned last year with Rick “Studmuffin” Lloyd (bass guitar), and Peter “Sweet Lips” Hickey (sax and vocals) to launch Blue Monkey Racket at the Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival 2006. Since then the gigs have flowed, including First Night at Pukekura Park Festival of Lights 2006, Parihaka Peace Festival, Americarna & Ureniu Rodeo (on the same day!!), 46th National Jazz Festival Tauranga (what a blast) and the now legendary five hour performance at Mohokatino Station, Taranaki Highway 3. The boys are currently working on the first EP and Album. If you like having fun and you like great music, this is band not to be missed “Mad as meat axes... a lot of fun... with really special moments”.
