Blue Collar Band

Blue Collar Band are a tight 4-piece CLASSIC HITS COVERS Band portraying a happy Bluesy, Soul & Rock ‘n Roll flavour. Consisting mainly of two versatile guitarists, bass & drums - sometimes with harmonica & keyboards too. Strong vocals with full BV’s are a feature of the Band.
 
Blue Collar Band members are : Greer Wilcox, Phil Pritchard, Chris Parfitt, John Ellis and from time to time with Sheree Wilson (vocals) and Nina McSweeney (harp and vocals). Blue Collar Band have become well known for their strong and clear vocals, performing plenty of good old classic hits, driving Blues-Rock, slide-blues, tasteful Jazz-Blues, Soul & Rock-n-Roll. Blue Collar Band’s last CD release “HEADING SOUTH” was the Band’s 5th release.
 
Phil is brilliant with the musical arrangements and has previously played with several famous Bands while living in Australia for over 20 years. Johnny took leave from the Band for a year but is now back again in full swing. Greer sets the groove on one or other either of 5 string Jazz or Precision basses. He sometimes adds an A105 Hammond organ, a CX-3 Korg or rhythm guitar. Both Greer and Phil contribute strong BV’s in many numbers.
 
Sheree Wilson joined Blue Collar Band in February 2006 and added amazing versatility to the Band’s overall sound however, due to work commitments, moved to Wellington and now performs only on occasions. She is available for gigs that are pre-booked with reasonable notice provided. She has a powerful Blues & Soul voice and is constantly being likened to Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin.
 
Whilst Blues & Soul are the Band’s true roots, while on the road, Blue Collar Band also perform popular covers Classic Hit songs including a few still familiar, but less radio-thrashed numbers. The Band’s own adaptations and arrangements of non-original material is what they prefer. This way their individual expression can be incorporated in the music.
 
Look out for Blue Collar Band at many Auckland venues & Bars. Occasionally they perform out of town too. You will also see them at many of the NZ Jazz/Blues Festivals & you won’t be disappointed! BCB appeared at the 2008 Mission Bay Jazz & Blues Festival in February as a 7 piece Band. The Band’s website is www.bluecollarband.co.nz
