Barry Charles & Haggis Maguiness

New transTasman album to be released at the BOI Festival

Barry and Haggis met some years back at the Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival and the two have performed together both in Australia and in NZ. They will be releasing their new joint album to coincide
with their appearance at the Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival’s 25th Anniversary this August.
The new album is a collection of original tracks and
selected covers. It captures the chemistry and enjoyment that comes so naturally to them when performing live. This Aussie / Kiwi connection,
perform together naturally and often humourously, packing venues at the 2009 BOI festival while capturing a wide range of moods from
ballads to some spontaneous ‘tempo-bento’ performances.
Barry Charles performs at national and international festivals. His song writing touches the soul with observations of life, love, the environment, indigenous causes, fantasy, humor - darkness and light.

He is sometimes referred to as an ‘extreme vocalist’, his performances showcase his song-writing skills, and can incorporate some very innovative scatting that has its roots in the blues, soul and jazz
idioms.
