The Alibis
|
The Alibis are a jump swing band playing classy, horn-driven swing and jump blues music which appeals to music lovers and dancers alike. The band's sound has been influenced by small group R 'n' B combos from the 1940s to the 1960s and the retro-swing revival of the late 1990s. Their repertoire includes vintage jump blues songs by Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris and Percy Mayfield as well as contemporary jump swing numbers by Roomful of Blues, Big Joe and the Dynaflows, the Squirrel Nut Zippers and the Love Dogs. This Auckland-based seven-piece band (vocals, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, saxophone, trumpet and trombone) began playing together in the mid-1990s. They are popular performers wherever they play from central Auckland music venues to jazz and blues festivals, public events, wine and food festivals, private functions, bars and clubs all over the country. Songs from the Alibis CD "Not Guilty'' are regularly played on the Auckland radio station Cool Blue (www.coolblue.co.nz) The Alibis website is at alibisjumpswing.co.nz Contact the Alibis: email: thealibis@hotmail.com |
